“Only 500 men will drive it”
With this slogan, Porsche advertised its new top model in 1972, which would go down in the history books as the Carrera RS. With the first 911 Carrera RS, Porsche achieved a true stroke of genius: the car, which actually only had to be built 500 times for homologation purposes, developed into an unexpected sales success. Within a very short time, the Carrera RS became the dream car for sports car fans par excellence. Of the originally unrealistic 500 units, more than three times as many were ultimately produced and sold. Production ended in the summer of 1973 after 1,580 units.
