Porsche 928
With the Porsche 928, the Stuttgart-based company originally wanted to replace the 911. The Porsche 928, which was introduced in 1977, had a water-cooled V8 engine at the front and the transmission at the rear. After the 924, the Porsche 928 was thus the second transaxle Porsche. In 1978, the Porsche 928 became the first sports car to date to be voted European Car of the Year. Until 1995, the Porsche 928 was offered – exclusively as a coupe. The engines of the Porsche 928 had 4.5 to 5.4 liters of displacement and produced 240 to 350 hp. Porsche produced a total of 61,056 models.
