Porsche 944
After the 924 and 928, the Porsche 944 was Porsche’s third transaxle model. The Porsche 944 was built from 1981 to 1991. Initially, the Porsche 944 shared many common parts with its predecessor, the 924. For example, the interior was largely identical until the 1985 model update. The Porsche 944 was the first transaxle Porsche, available as a coupe and convertible. The engines in the Porsche 944 had displacements of 2.5 to 3.0 liters and produced between 150 and 250 hp. The three-liter four-cylinder engine in the Porsche 944 S2 was the largest mass-produced gasoline-powered inline four-cylinder engine in the world at the time. A total of 163,302 Porsche 944s were produced.
