Porsche 912
With the Porsche 912, Porsche offered an entry-level model from 1965 to 1969. With its four-cylinder boxer engine in the rear, the Porsche 912 was clearly positioned below the 911. The 1.6-liter engine in the Porsche 912 was based on the 356 SC powerplant and produced 90 hp. Porsche built a total of 30,895 examples of the 912 – 28,333 Coupes and 2,562 Targas.
For the 1976 model year, Porsche relaunched the entry-level model with the 912 E. Built 2,099 times, the 912 E had a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine in the rear and was available only in the United States.
