Porsche 992 Edition 50 Years of Porsche Design

To mark Porsche Design’s 50th anniversary, Porsche is launching a special series of the 911. This is a Porsche 992 Targa 4 GTS, limited to 750 units with all kinds of special features. There is also a new, car-fitting edition of the classic Chronograph I watch.

A 911 like a journey through time in Porsche Design history

Based on the current Porsche 992 Targa 4 GTS, the designers created a stylish tribute. In fact, the vehicle’s color composition is very reminiscent of the brand’s first product, the Porsche Design Chronograph I. That’s why it’s only available in plain black or deep black metallic. The Targa bar has also been modified in line with the wristwatch. Like the 20/21″ Turbo S wheels, it comes in tasteful Platinum Silk Gloss. The hubcaps feature a colored Porsche crest.

“Black was the color of the very first Porsche Design product, the Chronograph I. That’s why we chose this color for our edition model. The Platinum accent color enhances the black paint in a similar way to what was done in the past with chrome details.”

But the standard Sport Design package has even more to offer. The decor on the sills also picks up the grayish shimmer of Platinum. In addition, the brake calipers are painted in high-gloss black. Same applies to the 911 model lettering. As an additional distinguishing feature, a special badge is embedded in the louvers on the trunk lid.

There are also tasteful changes in the interior

To make sure that the anniversary 911 is not only stylish on the outside, but also on the inside, the interior has been designed to match. The standard Adaptive Sports Seats Plus feature black leather with slate-gray contrast stitching on the seat bolsters. The seat panels, on the other hand, come in Sport-Tex with a classic black/Coolgrey check pattern. To match, the door sill plates and headrest embossings have been integrated with the anniversary lettering in a simple and unobtrusive manner. And as befits a limited edition model, this Porsche 992 Targa GTS naturally also has a badge on the dashboard to show its production number.

It goes without saying, that the 992 Edition 50 years of Porsche Design also comes with the Sport Chrono package free of charge. And how could it be otherwise, the watch in the dashboard was specially designed for the anniversary Porsche. This Porsche Design Subsecond watch shines with a black dial, white luminescent indices and red stop second. The glass itself is naturally non-reflective, in keeping with low-reflection race car cockpits.

Porsche Design offers the matching chronograph for the 992

In addition to the wonderfully classic-looking Porsche 992 in anniversary design, Porsche Design also has a matching watch on offer for buyers. The Chronograph I – Edition 50 Years of Porsche Design was the inspiration for the subsecond watch in the interior of the 992. At the same time, the new edition of the 50-year-old classic quotes the original in inimitable style. The world’s first all-black wristwatch has lost none of its appeal. The new Porsche Design logo is one of the few eye-catching changes to the timepiece, which is made of titanium. But this very neat looking chronograph is limited to 500 examples and is reserved exclusively for buyers of the Porsche 992 Edition 50 Years of Porsche Design.
