Risky Business (1983) – Joel Goodson’s Porsche 928
In the cult film Risky Business (1983), teenager Joel Goodson, played by Tom Cruise, drives his father’s Porsche 928. The elegant Gran Turismo plays a central role in the movie before the transaxle Porsche rolls uncontrollably into Lake Michigan. Thanks to the “loose business” at his parents’ house, lead actor Joel is able to get the car back in shape just in time before his parents return home.
The Porsche 928, produced from 1977 to 1995, was the first and only model with a V8 front engine that Porsche ever built. The model in the film dates from 1979 and has a 4.5-liter V8 engine with 240 hp. Originally intended as the successor to the 911, the 928 impresses with a combination of sportiness and comfort and remains a sought-after collector’s item to this day.
