Boxerbrunch at the Munich Beach Resort

Boxerbrunch at the Munich Beach Resort

This year marks the fifth edition of the Boxerbrunch at the Munich Beach Resort. Bavaria’s largest community for vehicles with boxer engines will come together again on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Oberschleißheim rowing regatta. There, the community will celebrate its passion for flat engines. This year’s event will also see the baton passed from initiator Johannes Geissler to Dirk Henrichs.

The Boxerbrunch sees itself as an inclusive Porsche community – other brands are also welcome!

Ever since it was founded in 2020, Johannes Geissler has focused on the idea of community. And the name says it all. Boxerbrunch as an artificial word refers on the one hand to the common denominator of boxer engines. This includes classic VW and Porsche models, but also BMW motorcycles. And “kindred spirits”, such as transaxle Porsches, are also welcome guests. The brunch as the second part of the name stands for good food and the time frame from late morning to early afternoon.

Our aim is to create a platform where people can get to know each other, exchange ideas and share experiences.

Right from the start, the motto of the event was “rather inclusive than exclusive”. This means that cool vehicles from other brands are also welcome. Johannes Geissler says: “Our aim is to create a platform where people can get to know each other, exchange ideas and share experiences.” This has now become a well-organized community. In addition to the WhatsApp community for the events, there are, for example, groups for DIYers and much more. With more than 700 community members, Boxerbrunch is the largest Porsche & Classic Car Community in Bavaria.

On September 15, the sound of boxer engines will fill the Beach Resort

The Munich Beach Resort is normally open to swimmers, rowers and beach volleyball players. On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the focus will be on “Germany’s favorite child”. Entrance to the beach club in the north of Munich will be open from 11 am. There will be a beach feeling, cool music, good boxer sound and delicious food until 2 pm.

The participation fee is 25 euros per car. This includes parking fees, a cool event poster, Boxerbrunch stickers and a little goodie for all early birds who register by September, 4th. This year’s supporters of the Boxerbrunch are Porsche parts specialist Carpoint, wheel manufacturer Maxilite, Suchner Classic and Elferspot.

From beach host to Boxerbrunch Community Lead

After Johannes Geissler initiated the Boxer Brunch five years ago, the fifth edition is marked by a change. The baton is now to be passed on to Dirk Henrichs. Johannes Geissler approached him in 2020 with the idea of using the parking lot near the former Olympic site as a venue. Dirk spontaneously offered the Beach Resort as the venue for the Boxer Brunch. Since then, it has been impossible to imagine the event calendar in without the Boxerbrunch at the former olympic rowing venue.

Dirk himself was already interested in cars, but the Boxer Brunch really got the ball rolling. In 2023, he bought his first Porsche 911 – a 2.2-liter F-model Targa. Dirk Henrich’s passion went so far that he opted for a restoration project and – as compensation after work – brought it back into shape in his small workshop at home. He thus exemplifies what the Boxerbrunch community stands for: a new generation of Porsche sports car drivers who don’t start out as fans, collectors or speculators, but whose passion comes from the community!

Dirk is now a host and participant in equal measure. His 911 2.2 Targa passed its baptism of fire with flying colors at the Boxerbrunch tour to Gmünd in June. It was therefore quickly clear to Johannes Geissler that he would like to pass on the baton as organizer of the Boxerbrunch to Dirk Henrichs. With the fifth edition, the community lead has now officially been handed over to the former host. Together with Dominic Suchner, Dirk will continue to further develop the Boxerbrunch in the future.

How you can become part of the Boxerbrunch community

The Boxerbrunch community meets up several times a year. In addition to the largest event at the Munich Beach Resort, there have been smaller after-work get-togethers or a trip to RUF in Pfaffenhausen in the past, for example. However, the community management of the Porsche and BMW Classic brands and vehicle refiner Strosek also support the Boxerbrunch – sometimes even as hosts. These partnerships help to fill the Boxerbrunch with life, as there are no membership fees or even admission fees for joining the community.

“We really only have our Instagram page and a WhatsApp group as communication channels. If you want to join us, just send us a message. A few words about your background, where you come from and a photo of the boxer vehicle are welcome. Of course, we are also happy to welcome “boxer newbees” looking for like-minded people. The best way to do this is via WhatsApp or via a message on Instagram.”
