Allgaier – Porsche A122
Porsche tractors represent a unique chapter in the history of the renowned German automotive manufacturer. In the years following World War II, Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the Porsche company, and his son Ferry Porsche recognized the need for agricultural machinery to help rebuild Germany’s farming industry. Leveraging their engineering expertise, they embarked on designing and producing tractors under the Porsche brand.
The first Porsche tractors were introduced in the 1950s, bearing the unmistakable design language and engineering excellence associated with Porsche automobiles. These tractors were characterized by their reliability, efficiency, and innovative features, setting them apart in the agricultural machinery market.
Porsche tractors were manufactured in collaboration with various companies, including Allgaier GmbH and later with Mannesmann AG. They ranged from compact models suitable for small farms to larger, more powerful machines capable of handling heavy-duty tasks. With their distinctive red paintwork and sleek lines, Porsche tractors garnered a reputation for both their performance in the field and their aesthetic appeal.

The vehicle in detail

While Porsche’s focus shifted primarily to sports cars and other high-performance vehicles over time, the legacy of Porsche tractors endures among enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. These tractors stand as a testament to the ingenuity and versatility of the Porsche brand beyond the realm of automobiles, embodying the spirit of innovation that defines the company’s legacy.
Our tractor is one out of the early Allgaier models. Because Porsche was not allowed to build tractors under their own name they set up a cooperation with Allgaier GmbH. Easily recognisable by the “Porsche System” logo and the typical Porsche design the A-Series was one of the most advanced models available on the market.
The A122 features a 2-cilinder diesel engine which puts out around 22hp and comes equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. A total of +- 3000 were built in the years 1953 until 1956.
This Allgaier-Porsche A122 is a classic piece of agricultural machinery that embodies Porsche’s precision engineering. Still in driving and functioning condition this tractor could use some elbow grease to bring it back to its former glory. Are you up for the task?
