Model history

The first generation of the Porsche Panamera (Type 970) was introduced in 2009 and marked Porsche's entry into the segment of four-door luxury sports sedans. The Panamera was powered by a wide range of engines, from a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 250 hp to the brutal Panamera Turbo with 500 hp from a 4.8-liter V8 biturbo. Later, even more powerful variants were added, such as the Panamera Turbo S with 570 hp and even a hybrid model.
Despite initial skepticism from die-hard Porsche fans, the Panamera proved that a four-door sedan can be not only practical, but also uncompromisingly sporty. The first generation laid the foundation for the ongoing success of the model series and secured Porsche an additional sales market.
