Driving Report of the Boxster Spyders:
No other Boxster has ever let off as light, as intuitive and passionate as this one. Activated the Sport-Plus mode, opened the flap exhaust and turned out the gears always nice to well over 6000 tours – then fired the six-cylinder intermediate gas that passes a hearing and seeing.
The fact that the Boxster Spyder offers such a compacted driving experience, of course, depends only partly on the new soft top. It is ten kilos lighter than the conventional hood and has a lowering effect on the center of gravity. And above all it separates the wheat from the chaff, because all the dentist women and VIP hairdressers in this car would only ruin their fingernails. But Porsche has made a much bigger effort for the radicalization of the Roadster than just putting on a new hat.
But what makes the Spyder really special is the lived purism and honest craftsmanship. Because not only the top is a wild fumble, but otherwise Porsche waived this time on everything that could dilute the driving experience through excessive comfort and soften: air conditioning? You do not need it! Seat adjustment? Hopelessly overrated! Sound insulation? Can you give yourself! An automatic is just for the fussy and why install door handles, even if they simply do cloth loops? Even the radio is just ballast if such an orchestra plays in the neck. Oh, they would just have thrown out the navigation system. This is so lame that it hardly comes after this car anyway. And instead of fingering on the touchscreen, you better leave your hands on the steering wheel.
The reward for this renunciation is the sheer emptiness of pure driving – and by the way, a 30 kilo diaper victory over the Porsche Boxster GTS. With at best only 1315 kilos, the Boxster Spyder is one of the lightest models in the Porsche range and dances accordingly light footed through the curves.
Of course, because the Swabians have once again tuned the chassis (minus two inches in the trim position) and the engine (plus 0.3 liter displacement), the Spyder is not only more beautiful than the normal Boxster, lighter and purist, but also sharper, stronger and faster. Instead of 330 hp as in the Boxster GTS makes the drilled to 3.8 liters six-cylinder from the 911 S now 375 hp and has literally easy game with the two-seater. From 0 to 100 he tears him with his 420 Nm in 4.5 seconds and finish the frenzy only at 290 km / h – stormy times are there pre-programmed. By the way, you do not have to worry about bad weather. First of all, at this rate, you simply dive through even the strongest showers. And secondly, you're in the Spyder so fast in the sweat anyway, that the clothes are already wet and a little cooling can not hurt.
