The possibility of open-top driving pleasure, breathtaking in every detail. The facelift version of model year 2003 can be recognized by bumpers with more aerodynamics and air intakes, clear headlights with white turn signals, electric opening of the luggage compartments, a glove compartment, glass rear window, different spoiler and exhaust. The latter sounds significantly better than its predecessor. The suspension and springs have been taken over from the old S version. In terms of torque and acceleration, these two engines are comparable. The popular three-spoke steering wheel became standard. The buttons next to the infotainment have been repositioned and everything feels of better quality than in the first generation. This example was delivered as one of the first examples in January 2003 by Porsche Centrum Eindhoven and had a catalogue value of € 65,235 at the time.
The options list includes items such as a Premium Sound system by Harmann, Cruise Control, on-board computer, differential, electrically adjustable backrests, windows and mirrors, CDR 23 radio with CD player, windshield, side airbags, spare wheel, storage compartment behind the front seats, CD storage and an anti-theft alarm [SCM class 3]. Everything functions properly, the radio and key codes are present. It is not a luxury model, but all the necessities for enjoying the summer are present. The 986 generation cannot be compared to contemporary cars in terms of options.
The originality and low odometer reading are much more relevant in this case. Under the heading ‘documents’ on our website you will find detailed photos of the available documentation and we have worked out the history in an Excel overview [on request due to privacy].
As mentioned, this Boxster was registered in the Netherlands in early 2003. The first owner, a pensioner, bought a new Porsche every 3-4 years; this was also the case here. After that, five private owners followed, including one garage owner who drove it privately. The last owner had it in his possession for over half a year, but then traded it in with us for a younger Porsche. Maintenance was carried out by dealers until 2008, after that by specialists. The following moments are stamped in the maintenance booklet: 12,441km [3-9-2004], 14,586km [1-2-2005], 20,497km [1-2-2006], 25,392km [13-3-2007], 41,070km [19-11-2007], 50,293km [26-4-2008] and 84,127km [27-9-2022]. We are still trying to find out the intermediate period via the previous owners. The MOT is valid until September 20, 2025. The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires with N-coding date from 2022 and are as good as new all around. The engine sounds silky smooth [without smoke development], even when starting cold, and the manual transmission shifts smoothly. The past is accident-free.
