At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, Porsche is unveiling the long-awaited Speedster version of its 911 type 997, inspired by the famous 356 Speedster. This is the third generation of the 911 Speedster. In a nod to its predecessor, only 356 examples of the 997 Speedster will be produced, with Carrera White and Pure Blue as the only catalogue colours.
This very special series of the 911 is distinguished above all by a spectacular look typical of the Speedster variants: a steeply sloping front windscreen and double rear hump. While these elements are clearly reminiscent of the famous 356, the Fuchs wheels have been delightfully revisited while retaining their fabulous “retro” look, with the superb combination of black lacquer and chrome. The line of the car is of great elegance.
The all-leather interior is very exclusive and well cared for, especially with the special upholstery. Based on the 997 Carrera GTS, the 3.8L flat 6 benefits from the specific X51 kit aimed at improving the intake and exhaust, allowing the car to gain 23 hp: this car offers 408 hp for 1540 kg, so the 997 Speedster can reach 305 km/h. The car also benefits from the renowned PDK gearbox, carbon-ceramic brakes and the Chrono Plus sports package. The Speedster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, a better time than that of the very exclusive Sport Classic, equipped with the same mechanics.
A true collector’s item in the making, this very low mileage Porsche is finished in the superb Pure Blue exterior colour, with the interior in black leather and fine blue stitching, as well as the superb chequered pattern on the seats. This is example number 329/356. It is the rarest 911 Speedster in the history of the 911 Speedster, and it is equipped with all the expertise of Porsche Exclusive, with unrivalled standard equipment, offering luxury and power.
