Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0

Coupé, 2011

Highlights

  • One of only 600 built
  • 100% First Paint
  • Last evolution of the 997 Series

The Ultimate 997.2 GT3 RS Finished in Carrera White Over Black and Red Alcantara/Leather Interior, Car number 253 of only 600 Produced Worldwide.

For some enthusiasts, the new, more refined, and computer-controlled 992 GT3 RS represents the pinnacle of Porsche’s track-focused engineering. For others, the 997 GT3 RS remains the last truly raw and unfiltered 911 RS. Among them, the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 stands out as the ultimate expression of Porsche’s motorsport pedigree. Limited to just 600 units, this special edition marked the end of the 997 era, featuring the largest naturally aspirated flat-six ever fitted to a 911 by the factory. As the 911 grew significantly with the 991 and 992 generations, these GT3 RS 4.0s have skyrocketed in value, widely regarded as the high point of Porsche’s driver-focused philosophy before transitioning toward grand touring characteristics.

The vehicle in detail

Powered by the legendary Mezger-designed engine, this GT3 RS 4.0 borrows the crankshaft from the RSR race car, increasing the stroke and boosting output from 450 hp (in the 3.8-liter GT3 RS) to 500 hp, all while revving beyond 8,000 rpm. Mated exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox, the driving experience remains pure, visceral, and deeply engaging—a true enthusiast’s machine.

This particular 997 GT3 RS 4.0 was delivered in October 2011 to an Italian collector. Porsche offered the RS 4.0 in just two standard colors—Carrera White and Basalt Black—with Paint to Sample reserved for only a select few. Finished in Carrera White, this example retains its original paint and its factory graphics package, accentuating the aggressive yet purposeful design. It was also optioned with white color-matched wheels and the front axle lift system, significantly improving usability in everyday driving.

Inside, the black and red carbon-fiber bucket seats provide exceptional lateral support, with both standard three-point seat belts and racing harnesses attached to the factory-installed rear half cage. A set of aluminum racing pedals enhances heel-toe downshifting, while the center console houses a navigation system and climate controls, blending functionality with the RS’s track-ready focus.

Always meticulously maintained and 100% first paint, this GT3 RS 4.0 underwent a full 111-point inspection by Porsche in July 2024 and is now ready to be driven, enjoyed, and appreciated by its next lucky owner.
