The Porsche 997, the seventh generation of the legendary Porsche 911, was introduced in 2004 and impressed with a new design, wider fenders and aerodynamic wings. It was the first model in the 911 series with a direct injection engine, which resulted in improved performance. Variants such as the Carrera, Carrera S and Turbo impressed with up to 530 hp. The 911 GT3 with 435 hp was a highlight for motorsport enthusiasts. The variety of engine variants made the Porsche 997 a popular model that covered different driver needs. Until production ceased in 2012, the Porsche 997 cemented its reputation as an iconic sports car.
