Porsche 997.2 GTS PDK

Generation 997. The Porsche 911 factory code 997 was the successor to the “mirror egg headlights” Porsche 996 and was delivered from July 2004 to the end of 2012. It was already the sixth generation of the original (air-cooled) 911. For the first time, starting with the Carrera S, the suspension featured Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with 10 mm of lowering compared to the standard 911 Carrera. The revolutionary PASM consisted of an active damping system that automatically adjusted to changing road conditions and individual driving style, with a choice of two damper modes – ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’.

Facelift 997.2.

Seen from the outside, the facelift (internal designation: 997/2) is fairly easily recognizable by the newly shaped taillights and the 4 exhausts. LED light strips have now found their way into the classic as well, serving as daytime running lights under the front headlights and quick-acting taillights in the rear. And that’s about it, after all, the 997 was already a stunning design. All the more has changed in the technology including completely new engines and the introduction of the pdk gearbox.

GTS.
The most notable and also unique features are the wider rear end, which adds 44 mm to the width of the car for a 32 mm wider track and the centerlock wheels of the turbo S. In addition, to justify the additional price of some 20,000 euros over the base Carrera, the GTS was fitted as standard with the PASM adjustable suspension and sports exhaust system.

Performance and options.
The facelift 997.2 was the last generations with atmospheric boxer engine and hydraulic power steering. For some, more than enough reasons to stick with the 997 generation. The distinctive engine and exhaust sound of the atmospheric boxer engine is truly amazing and the design of the 997.2 is iconic and timeless.

In this case, the standard richly equipped GTS version comes with wonderful comfort options such as, full leather interior, electric sunroof, BOSe sound system, vruise control, PDK, seat heating and Xenon Plus lighting.

Technology and performance.
The GTS model has 63 more horsepower than the base Carrera. It gets this from a 6-cylinder boxer engine that has been enlarged to 3.8 liters and whose rated speed has been increased to 7300 rpm (base 6500). Maximum torque of 420 Newton meters is already reached at 4200 rpm, whereas in the base Carrera it is only 200 rpm later. This means more thrust “from below.”

The GTS has 408 hp instead of 385 hp. With that, this 997 breaks the magic 300 km/h limit, with a top speed of 302 km/h. For a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, the GTS needs only 4.6 seconds.

Provenance and history.
The car was originally delivered by Porsche Stuttgart. The car has had all required maintenance. The work performed is noted in the complete service booklet. We know this car well as we have serviced it since 2022 (last 3 oh servicing).
