For the 1998 model year, the 996 designed by Harm Lagaay and his team replaced the almost mystically revered 993. It is almost 20 centimeters longer and almost ten centimeters wider – compared to the squat, muscular 993, it looks lean and slim. A wider body came with the 420 hp 911 Turbo, which as Turbo S from 2004 even achieved 450 hp. The engine of the Turbo still has what Porsche connoisseurs call the "Mezger engine" and has dry sump lubrication with a separate oil tank. It also benefits from the Vario Cam intake camshaft adjustment typical of the 996 and, from model year 2002, from the Vario Cam Plus valve lift switch.
The Turbo 5-spoke alloy wheels are slightly damaged at the edges. According to the seller, the fitted Michelin tires were reinstalled last week. The perforated brake discs ensure rapid deceleration. Like the new tyres, the front brakes were renewed last week. In terms of chassis technology, there are no defects to be listed.
Except for a repainted bonnet, this 911 Turbo still has its original paintwork in the color "Arctic Silver Metallic". Overall, the exterior is in extremely good condition: there are no dents or rust on the body, and the current owner also says that the Porsche has been accident-free. In addition, neither the front nor the rear bumper indicate a parking bump and the headlights of the Porsche also show no complaints and are free of damage. A few stone chips can only be seen on the front of the car. There is also a fully functional, body-colored electric sunroof on the roof.
Gray leather sports seats can be seen in the interior of the Turbo: With the exception of a few minor signs of wear and tear on the shift lever and the controls as well as on the control panel for adjusting the seats, no signs of wear can be found in the interior of the Porsche. In addition to the electric sunroof already mentioned, the 911 also has the following features on board: power steering, central locking, electric windows, electric seat adjustment, air conditioning, ABS and a Porsche CR-22 radio. All equipment features do their job without hesitation.
Characteristic of a 911 are the five round instruments within sight of the driver: the speedometer shows 85,640 kilometers, which can be proven without a doubt by a complete Porsche checkbook. In addition, the entire on-board folder with all documents and instructions is included.
The 3.6-litre, 420 hp six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear of the 911 delivers 560 Newton meters. The Porsche was last serviced in June 2021.
Improperly performed repair work is not visible on the underside of this sports car – only a small amount of oil loss is visible, but this is limited. According to the seller, a Porsche service advisor checked the oil loss and classified it as "normal".
Porsche and Turbo – that's a combination that is actually almost inseparable. This 911 offered in arctic silver metallic convinces with its low mileage, the subtle color combination and the equipment, which concentrates on the essentials. It doesn't matter whether it's a quick lap on the racetrack or a leisurely drive to the bakery around the corner: a 911 Turbo does both with flying colors.
