Chassis No. WP0AC2992VS375859
Created by Porsche’s Exclusive department, the 993-generation 911 Turbo S is a special limited production variant of the final air-cooled 911 Turbo, with only 183 produced for the United States. The Turbo S is powered by a specially crafted 3.6-liter flat-six engine, delivering 424 horsepower through larger K24 turbochargers, a revised exhaust system, an additional oil cooler, and updated ECU programming. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. A carbon fiber front strut tower brace enhances the car’s performance.
Externally, the Turbo S is distinguishable from the standard 911 Turbo by its unique rear fender air scoops, Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, front brake cooling ducts, and distinctive, yellow-painted brake calipers. It features quad exhaust outlets and 18 inch hollow-spoke wheels in a Cetelon-silver finish unique to the Turbo S. Additional standard equipment includes Litronic bi-xenon headlamps with washers, fog lights, power mirrors, an electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, and Turbo S logo wheel center caps. Inside, the Turbo S was equipped from Porsche with exclusive carbon fiber trim, aluminum-look instrument dials, stainless steel door sills, and Porsche crested headrests. Additionally, it is equipped with auto-dimming mirrors with rain sensors, an infrared anti-theft system, automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, and a Porsche CDR-210 stereo.
This particular example was initially purchased new from Copans Motors Inc. (Champion Porsche) of Pompano Beach, Florida. Finished in striking non-metallic Black with a matching Black leather interior, it boasts optional supple leather seats, lumbar support, and the rarely seen carbon fiber steering wheel. Perhaps most impressive is the $4,000 charge for “Air transportation from PAG” another sign that the original owner of this all-black Turbo S expected more than the typical delivery process. The car benefits from over $4,000 in recent service work by Porsche Hilton Head, which includes engine oil and filter change, windshield seal replacement, mount and balance four new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, along with replacing the sway bar end links on 12 February 2024. Featuring 20,602 miles at cataloging, this low-mileage 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S is one of the rarest and most collectible 911 Turbos of all time and is accompanied by its original window sticker, owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, and Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity.
