The Porsche 993 was the last in the 911 series to have an air-cooled boxer engine, so the model is seen by many purists as the last “real” Elfer before water cooling and even turbo engines, in the case of the current generation, took over. The 993 was also a big step in the design of the legendary Porsche, its predecessor 964 looked much more like the primal 911 from 1963, while the 993 had a more voluptuous interplay of lines, with the rear-slanting headlights a clear break in style with the past.
