With so many iconic cars and notable achievements over decades, Porsche rightfully celebrates its storied heritage by offering limited-production models inspired by the most beloved and sought-after classics. Cars like the 911 R, several generations of the Speedster, and the original type 997 Sport Classic all offer modern performance with a dash of vintage panache.
The latest iteration of the Sport Classic, now based on the type 992 platform, features a “greatest hits” collection of the most iconic and desirable Porsche design features wrapped around one of the most potent and engaging drivetrains ever fitted to a 911. The distinctive Carrera RS 2.7-inspired ducktail spoiler and Fuchs-style wheels easily identify this limited-edition model. Keen observers will also note the “double-bubble” carbon fiber roof, gold-colored badging, and a Porsche shield featuring the bright-red banding of the early-style Württemberg crest. Twin stripes streak across the hood, roof, and tail, further alluding to the automaker’s illustrious racing history. The leather interior features distinctive houndstooth cloth on the doors and seat inserts, and green-accented instrumentation for a 1960s atmosphere. Lastly, a badge on the dashboard notes the serial number of each Sport Classic.
Built on the Turbo widebody platform, the Sport Classic is the most powerful rear-wheel drive type 992 model thus far. The twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter flat-six engine produces a whopping 542 horsepower, and while mildly detuned from its four-wheel drive brethren, this reduction has allowed for the option of a manual gearbox, much to the delight of purists.
The chassis is additionally fitted with carbon ceramic brakes, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, rear-axle steering, Porsche Active Suspension Management, and a specially tuned exhaust as standard.
Offered here is serial number 0269 of the 1,250 Sport Classics offered worldwide. Spectacularly appointed, it boasts $111,355 worth of custom tailoring from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. As shown on the accompanying CXX-code option sheet, the exterior is finished in paint-to-sample Manaus Blue and is accented by Shadow Blue Porsche script graphics running down the lower flanks.
In a display of supreme luxury and customization, leather lines most visible surfaces throughout the lovely Graphite Blue interior. The air vents, center tunnel, knee pads, front trunk, rear side panels, lower dashboard, inner door sill guards, and even the owner’s manual wallet are all finished in Graphite Blue hides with Pebble Grey stitching. Adding a traditional touch, beautiful Paldao Wood inlays accent the door cards, dashboard, cupholder surround, and seatbacks. Further highlights include bespoke Pepita houndstooth fabric inserts in Black, Chalk, and Speed Blue, inspired by the unique 911 Carrera “Sally Special” auctioned by RM Sotheby’s and Porsche Cars North America in August 2022 for $3.6 million. Now offered from the Todd Blue LAPIS Collection, this Sport Classic is one of few Porsche customer cars—and possibly the first—to be outfitted with this lovely and exclusive fabric pattern.
Presented in virtually as-new condition with just under 1,177 miles showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, this bespoke Porsche 911 Sport Classic rightly sits among a vaunted group of the most desirable limited-production Porsche sports cars.
