The Porsche GT3 has always been the track day special of the 911 lineup- reduced weight, improved braking, more power, and a more extreme aerodynamics package were the hallmarks of the GT3 series of cars. But Porsche knew that there were enthusiasts who wanted all of the improvements that came with a GT3, but they were not particularly interested in the large rear wing that had always been found on the model. For the 991.2 generation of 911, Porsche debuted the GT3 Touring- a car that checked every box from the GT3 but was only available with a manual transmission and did away with the rear wing. Once it went on sale, the GT3 Touring became one of the most sought-after cars in Porsche’s lineup at the time and was commanding massive premiums on the secondhand market. Naturally, after finding the car a success, they had a new GT3 Touring ready to go when the 992 GT3 debuted in 2021.
