The advantage of evolving is that an existing recipe is further developed to perfection. The basic recipe for the Porsche 911 dates from 1964 – or 1948 if you include the Porsche 356. That was already very strong, let alone the model as we know it in 2020. Moreover, if there is one brand that is good at evolving, it is Porsche. This makes the 992 a born icon. All the traditional 911 elements are returned, but the current model is even better on every front, again faster, again more luxurious and more beautiful than its predecessor (s).
Especially in Carrera 4S trim, the Porsche 992 Cabriolet is a beautiful and powerful appearance. The Dolomite Silver body paint is as timeless as it is original; with the sun on it, a light blue glow appears to emerge in the silverware. Porsche Exclusive Manufactur also went wild on the convertible with a SportDesign package and SportDesign side skirts. Contrast is offered in the form of tough 20/21 (front / rear) inch Carrera S wheels plus tailpipes; both in high-gloss black. The carbon mirror caps fit seamlessly with the many dark accents, of which the convertible top is one.
Interior
The 911 interior is sleek and high-quality as we know it from Porsche. Yet there appeared to be enough room for all kinds of embellishments. For example, note the black, half-leather Sport-Tex seats with checkered inner lanes. Nice and vintage. The seats themselves are of the Sport-Plus type and can be electrically adjusted. The driver sits ringside and has a first-class view of a Mat-Carbon Sports steering wheel. The interior moldings are also finished in Mat-Carbon combined with aluminum accents. What do you mean, high tech? The dashboard is fully equipped with black leather upholstery for an even higher quality impression.
Options & extras
Yes, a Porsche excels in handling and driving experience. However, with a steering rear axle on board, the makers take this to a completely different level. This 992 Carrera 4S is equipped with the advanced system and that makes us very happy! Especially when the sports exhaust blows a heavy tune as soon as the gas goes on. A Bose audio provides fine acoustics when the amazing performance does not need to be shown. Park Assist, Surround View, LED headlights and Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) complement the impressive option list.
Technology & performance
High-tech or not, some things never change: traditionally there is a 6-cylinder boxer engine in the rear. The 3.0 liter capacity could remain relatively modest, as the power source is assisted by a twin turbo. The combination is good for 450 horsepower distributed over 4 wheels. The 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission is the best of its kind and chases through its gears almost seamlessly, until the top speed of 304 km / h is shown. The 100 km / h is reached from a standstill within 3.8 seconds.
What about the emotion? The original Porsche 911 character can still be felt, seen and heard. Also in the 992 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. The connoisseur knows: basically everything is said with that. Kind
regards,
