The 911 Turbo S is just about the most exciting thing Porsche has ever built. Without a roof, this powerhouse is even more desirable. All the way in 991 trim. Because as far as we’re concerned, this is one of the most successful Elfers ever.
Just like other Turbo versions, the 991 Turbo S can be recognized by a ‘fixed’ rear spoiler, extra air slots in modified bumper (spoiler)s and ditto openings directly behind the doors. The bright tail lights and grey tinted 20 inch Turbo S wheels with yellow brake calipers behind make this model not only a crushing, but also a unique appearance. In chic dark blue, the uncompromising 911 DNA stands out surprisingly well. You keep looking at this delicious machine!
Interior
Behind the Sport Design steering wheel in the fully black leather upholstered Porsche cockpit, it is important to keep the focus on the road as much as possible. Nevertheless, the interior finish also deserves a lot of attention: contrasting red stitching, brushed aluminium panels, a Turbo insignia in the centre armrest, Porsche weapon in the headrests, aluminium sports pedals and leather upholstery that even extends to the steering column and speakers. In a word: beautiful.
Options & extras
Finishing and comfort go hand in hand in this 991 Convertible, referring to the impressive option list: Sport Chrono, seat heating + ventilation, Burmester Sound System, Keyless Entry/Go and of course the formidable sitting adaptive sports seats including memory function. Not that you want to give up the Turbo S even once…
Technique & performance
The 3.8 litre 6-cylinder boxer engine has an addictive effect on all your senses. The 560 horses pulverise many a supercar thanks to an unparalleled amount of grip and a lightning-fast, high-tech PDK transmission with double clutch. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h does not have to take longer than 3.2 (!) seconds, compared to a top speed that reaches far beyond the magical 300 km/h: 318 km/h, to be precise.
The Turbo S-power is perfectly distributed over each of the 4 wheels. Too safe or clinical, you say? One test drive provides maximum counter throttle. After all, the experience of speed is bizarre, and thanks to the help of Akrapovic it sounds that way… Who dares?
