The 991-generation 911 Speedster was first shown in concept form at the 2018 Paris Motor Show as a fitting tribute to the marque’s 70th anniversary. In the same spirit as the G-Series Speedsters of 1989, 964 Speedsters, and 997 Speedsters, the new model wore distinctive 356-style rear bodywork, embodying the essence of open-top driving pleasure and exceptional performance that has defined the Speedster since 1954. The heart of the new Speedster was borrowed from the contemporary 911 GT3: the magnificent 4.0-liter DOHC flat six-cylinder engine encased in lightweight alloy, delivering over 500 horsepower and boasting a 9,000-rpm redline. True to its purist nature, a six-speed manual transmission came as standard equipment.
The New York International Auto Show saw the unveiling of the optional Heritage Design Package crafted by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. This bespoke offering married classic styling elements with modern craftsmanship, available exclusively with GT Silver Metallic paint.
Nostalgic white accents adorned the front bumper and fender “arrows,” while “gumball” style graphics graced the front luggage compartment lid and doors, evoking memories of individually decorated Porsche 356 models from a bygone racing era. The historical “Porsche” decal along the flanks and the classic Porsche crest on the front luggage compartment lid completed the exterior’s timeless appeal.
Inside, the Heritage Design Package showcased a sophisticated two-tone leather interior in Black and Cognac. Full Bucket Seats, upholstered in Cognac leather, featured an embossed historic Porsche crest on the headrests. GT Silver Metallic accents on the seat backs and interior trim pieces harmonized with the exterior, while gold “Speedster” designations and a limited-edition plaque added exclusive touches to this extraordinary model.
Only 1,948 examples of the 991-generation Speedster were produced, commemorating the birth year of the 356. Of these, an even more select few were bestowed with the coveted Heritage Design Package (XWW), like the Speedster presented here. This outstanding example was also ordered with tinted LED headlights in black Including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus). Notably, while Speedsters were not equipped with standard air conditioning as a weight-saving measure, this example desirably benefits from the no-cost air conditioning option, enhancing its usability without compromising its performance. Its accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report indicates that the car was initially registered in Ontario, Canada, while receiving regular maintenance courtesy of Porsche of Naples, Florida. Acquired by the consignor in early 2024, the car shows just 3,585 miles from new at the time of cataloging, and now rides on Gunther Werks GW9 Fuchs 20/21 inch wheels paying homage to the iconic Fuchs design and further enhancing the Speedster’s classic appearance. For those who prefer the original look, the factory wheels are included with the sale.
Combining open-air thrills with Porsche’s iconic 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six engine and a precision six-speed manual transmission, the 991-generation Speedster is deservedly one of the most highly sought-after limited-edition 911 variants in recent years. The addition of the Heritage Design Package elevates this particular Speedster to new heights of desirability. Seamlessly blending classic-inspired styling elements with contemporary craftsmanship, this Speedster represents a rare opportunity to acquire a modern classic that is both a thrilling driver’s car and a faithful tribute to Porsche’s rich sporting heritage.
