The vehicle in detail

Since 1986, Porsche has hosted a Cup racing series for its 911 model in which drivers competed in nearly identically prepared cars, ensuring that the competition was based on skill rather than car performance. Highly competitive and popular, the series became a proving ground for talent over the years with many drivers using the Porsche Cup as a stepping-stone to higher-level racing categories.

While using G-series racers in the inaugural Cup, each successive 911 generation has had a Cup variant including the 964, 993, and 997. Continuing the legacy, Porsche offered a new GT3 Cup racer based on the production 991 GT3 in 2013. As per Porsche tradition, the model was regularly revised with the Cup car receiving significant updates in 2017, dovetailing with the introduction of the 991.2. The 991.2 GT3 Cup’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter, flat-six engine featured upgrades to make it more durable than before, including a valve drive with rigidly mounted rocker arms and a central oil feed, an integrated oil feed to optimize defoaming, and a more rigid crankshaft. Developing 485 hp at 7,500 rpm – up from 460 – and 354 lbs./ft. of torque at 6,250 rpm, power was transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential manual gearbox operated via paddle shifters. Impressively, while its predecessor required an engine service every 40 hours and a transmission service every 30 hours, the new engine could go 80 to 100 hours between services, and the transmission now only needed attention every 60 hours. Other mechanical improvements included a new race braking system with four-corner, 380 mm slotted-steel brake rotors that were inner-vented for optimized ventilation. Weighing just 1,200 kg (2,645 pounds), the new Cup’s bodywork utilized aluminum-steel composite construction, making it lighter and more rigid than before. While still wearing the same prominent, adjustable rear wing of its predecessor, the exterior was revamped with new four-point LED headlights, and a new front spoiler and rear end with integrated FIA rain lights that improved airflow and downforce at speed. Up top, the rescue hatch in the roof was enlarged to make it easier to provide recovery following an accident.

Finished in Pure White (code C9A), this 2019 GT3 Cup was delivered in January 2020 to its current collector owner. Accompanying items include sales documentation, a binder of technical information, and a generous factory spare-parts cache consisting of body parts, additional wheels, brakes, and cooling system components. Presented in pristine, unused condition throughout, without a paint or decal livery, this GT3 Cup has never been campaigned or tracked. Admired by seasoned racers and amateurs alike, these 911s deliver professional-grade performance, while offering owners a measure of technical support, safety, and value rarely found in other race-prepared sports cars. Eligible for several competitive events and track days, this sale represents an opportunity to acquire one of these special, factory-built Porsche race cars in virtually as-new condition.
