2019 Porsche 911 (991) GT2 RS Clubsport – RM Sotheby’s

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport was unveiled alongside the new 992-generation 911 at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. It was the swan song for the 991 series and offered as an extremely low-production, track-only, fully optimized racing version of the road-going 911 GT2 RS. It is also the most powerful GT customer sports car Porsche has ever built and intended as the ultimate turnkey racing car for track days and factory-backed Clubsport events at circuits around the world.

The vehicle in detail

Like the road-going GT2 RS, the engine is a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged, flat six-cylinder producing a staggering 700 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. It is equipped with an onboard water spray system to cool the charge air—a first for a production Porsche. The PDK transmission is also shared between the two cars, with drive being channeled instantly to the rear axle and controlled via steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Unlike the street-legal GT2 RS, the Clubsport benefits from a freer-flowing, unique exhaust system, while the entire car is also assembled in Porsche’s dedicated motorsport facility at Flacht alongside the 911 GT3 Cup, 911 RSR, and, until recently, the Le Mans–winning 919 Hybrid. The chassis therefore benefits from being honed and tuned on the adjacent Weissach test track and features a raft of improvements over the road car. Perhaps the most significant is the use of forged suspension links on both axles and three-way adjustable dampers, which allow owners to tune the car’s characteristics and handling profile to suit differing circuits and driving styles.
Tipping the scales at just 1,390 kg, the Clubsport is 75 kg lighter than the GT2 RS, the result of a concerted effort to remove unnecessary equipment and utilize lightweight materials wherever possible. This is most evident in the bodywork, where carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic is used for the roof, front bonnet, front bumper, doors, tail section, and rear engine cover. Even the battery is a featherweight racing unit. The cabin, too, is a no-frills motorsport affair, fully stripped out and featuring a removable carbon racing wheel from the 911 GT3 R, a Cosworth intelligent color display, an onboard data logger, integrated roll cage, and FIA-approved six-point safety harness for the fixed Recaro bucket seat.
This GT2 RS Clubsport has never been used and is presented in factory-fresh condition. Included are two additional sets of wheels and tires, spare brake components, and other spare parts which will come in handy should the next owner choose to compete in the car. It offers a rare opportunity to acquire a pristine 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, one of the finest track cars available today, for either thrilling track use or display in the finest collections of limited-production Porsches.
