Six minutes and 47.3 seconds. The time represented a result of the combination of a single flying lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the 911 GT2 RS, and Porsche factory driver Lars Kern. Amazingly, this record time from the GT2 RS, ‘the most powerful streel-legal 911 model of all time’ upon its introduction, bettered the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar’s 2015 Nürburgring lap record by nearly 10 seconds. Quite an achievement by the evergreen 911, a design that has been sculpted and refined, yet remains a clear member of the 911 family since its introduction at the Geneva Auto Salon nearly 60 years ago. Launched at the 2017 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the 2018 911 GT2 RS represents the apex of the 991.2-generation. Even after five years, the facts and figures surrounding the 911 GT2 RS remain staggering. Seven hundred horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, zero to 60 mph in 2.7-seconds, and a top track speed of 211 mph. With such staggering performance channeled through the rear wheels, it’s no wonder so many GT2 RS door sills were emblazoned with Widowmaker of Witwenmacher and why allocations for the car were so fiercely prized.
Ordered through Porsche North Houston, this 911 GT2 RS was smartly specified in optional Chalk paint ($4,220) over a leather interior in Black with Black/Red Alcantara for an additional $3,480. A new color for 2018, Chalk is a warm grey that harkens back to the historical colors offered by Porsche in the 1950s. Additional factory options include the highly desirable front axle lift, extended range fuel tank, BOSE Surround Sound, dashboard trim in leather, red deviated stitching, pedals and footrest in aluminum, instrument dials in White, and illuminated door sill guards in carbon fiber. However, the most important selected option is the highly desirable $31,000 Weissach Package. Designed as a comprehensive, nearly 40-pound weight reduction package, the GT2 RS Weissach Package features forged magnesium wheels and numerous elements made of carbon fiber, including the roof, anti-roll bars, and end links on both axles. Not simply a visual enhancement, the magnesium wheels alone reduced overall and unsprung weight by over 25 pounds!
Finished in April 2018 and delivered to Porsche North Houston in June 2018 with an MSRP of $348,600, this 911 GT2 RS has covered just 3,260 miles at cataloging. This single-owner example remains unmodified and has seen visits to both Porsche Grapevine and Porsche Plano. The digital history file available for review reveals that most recently, this 911 GT2 RS received a service from Porsche Plano in December 2021. While there, Porsche Plano performed a vehicle inspection, an oil and filter change, and a full brake fluid flush and bleed. Furthermore, it retains many of the items that can go missing between ownership transitions, including its window sticker, manuals, and service paperwork. Offered from single ownership, unmodified, and untracked, this 911 GT2 RS offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire a well-optioned, well-maintained example of the apex predator of the 991.2-generation 911.
