The innovative lightweight body of the 911 Carrera family was developed specifically for the Coupé and Cabriolet, with the Cabriolet also benefiting from the weight advantages of the aluminum-steel construction of the closed model. Porsche has managed to reverse the continuous weight increase in the open 911 models, so that this generation of Cabriolets is significantly lighter than its predecessors, with a weight loss of up to 60 kilograms depending on the equipment. In addition, this mix offers 18% improved rigidity compared to the previous generation 997. The 100 mm longer wheelbase contributes to greater driving stability at high speeds, while the 52 mm widened front axle track width ensures greater driving stability and agility in curves. The engines have also become more powerful and more economical.
