This 2018 911 Targa 4S is from the 991.2 generation and is finished in GT Silver Metallic with a brushed aluminum Targa bar. Showing less than 55,500 km from new, this car shows very well throughout and is perfect for summer backroads fun. As a facelift of the 991, this Targa 4S features the updated and more resolved rear-end design with a wide grille to vent engine heat and a pair of tailpipes placed near the middle of the car. The unique 20” split-spoke wheels are finished in what Porsche calls “Satin Platinum” and house a set of red brake calipers with drilled rotors. This car was equipped with the invaluable nose lift system from the factory that makes around-town driving less painful by helping you avoid speed bumps and curbs.
On the inside, the leather is finished in Graphite Blue, a deep shade, this looks almost black in some lights, but when the sun hits it, you see its true color. This is a stunning contrast with the GT Silver exterior and the extended leather wraps around the sports seats, dashboard, door cards, and front/rear center tunnel. Bose Surround Sound was optioned on this car, offering stunning clarity and response, and it is also equipped with digital radio capabilities. Parking sensors front and rear pair well with the aforementioned front axle lift and help you safely maneuver the car around when the roads get tight in town.
Powering this Targa 4S is a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 that produces 414 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. Although some enthusiasts bemoaned the shift to turbocharging for the Targa and Carrera models, it produced a far more capable car that produces maximum torque from 1,700 rpm all the way to 5,000 rpm with peak power at 6,500, meaning that around town or when passing on a tight road, the car is always ready to jump at lightning speed. This is connected to a 7-speed PDK gearbox, and power is sent to all four wheels through a sport-tuned all-wheel-drive system.
No car enthusiasts would buy a Porsche Targa for its track prowess or to set a fast lap on their favorite hill climb loop. But a Targa is unbeatable for a 911 that you can use daily, providing the experience of a convertible with the chassis stiffness and safety of a coupe. This car, in its appealing color combination and with a nice set of options, will offer a memorable driving experience each time you slide behind the wheel.
