The Porsche 968 was produced from 1992 to 1995. It was the successor to the Porsche 944, but consists of 80% new parts! The 968 was the last model of the evolution that began twenty years earlier with the Porsche 924.
In addition to mechanical developments, the styling of the model was changed, and the level of luxury increased over the 944. Production was moved from the Audi plant in Neckarsulm (where the 924 and 944 were manufactured under contract to Porsche), to Porsche’s own plant in Zuffenhausen.
The 968 featured a redeveloped engine from the 944 (four-cylinder, inline engine), now with three-liter capacity, a bore of 104 mm and stroke of 88 mm. The engine produced 240 hp (177 kW). The engine was equipped with VarioCam that provided variable valve timing.
