Here you'll find a well-run-in Porsche 968, which, visually, could just as easily be one of the few 968 Turbo S models. Its price, however, would be 20-30 times what this one costs.
Its mileage of just under 250,000 km is neither visually nor mechanically noticeable, as it has clearly been excellently maintained and, understandably, has never been in need of a service. Its condition is outstanding, especially considering its total mileage. Its mechanicals are far from any conceivable overhaul in every respect, and it drives as solidly and firmly as if it had only covered a fraction of its stated mileage.
The BILSTEIN sports suspension, combined with the powerful braking system and factory-installed differential lock, and finally, the significantly larger tires, make it a master of sporty country roads, where even modern sports cars can only keep up with it if the driver puts in a great effort. It is considered a prime example of neutral, perfectly controllable handling characteristics, making it incredibly fast, yet always safe, even for inexperienced drivers after a very short period of familiarization.
Those in a hurry can still reach speeds of over 270 km/h according to the speedometer without getting sweaty hands. Its perfect straight-line stability and effortless 3-liter four-cylinder engine make such journeys a pleasure that doesn't end abruptly at the gas pump. On public roads and under normal traffic conditions, the 968 hardly consumes more than 10 liters per 100 kilometers. Its service intervals of 20,000 km are still reasonably long, and its maintenance poses no insoluble puzzle for even the most experienced mechanic.
All spare parts for the 968 are readily available, making it the perfect all-rounder, ideal for every conceivable use. Whether you want to spend a day on the Nordschleife, a weekend in the Dolomites, or take part in a classic car rally.
It can do that and, as always, will bring you home safely because it's a Porsche. Remember? Those were the cars of the sports car manufacturer from Zuffenhausen, which briefly stumbled in the early 1990s to the point where it almost fell victim to a company like Mercedes-Benz. Models like the Porsche 968 were among the reasons why Porsche wasn't making enough money from its cars. Just imagine – a Porsche 968 took just over 60 hours to manufacture, from the first screw to the last.
Today, Porsche probably builds four 992 turbo S models in the same amount of time…
For that reason alone, you should take a closer look at the 968. It's hard to believe that it's 34 years and a quarter of a million miles behind it. And it will probably still be in such good shape and look brilliant in another three decades if it ends up in good hands again today.
We look forward to hearing from you to arrange an appointment if you would like to view the Porsche 968. It's worth it in many ways, because, as already mentioned, there won't be many more opportunities to get your hands on a genuine Porsche for such a high price.
