All in all, more intense, unfiltered, and impressive than the normal 964, the power was increased to 260 hp. Combined with a lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50 / 10 transmission with tighter gear ratios, an asymmetrical limited slip differential and steel synchronization, the Carrera RS offers an incomparable driving experience to this day. In this slimmed-down version with partially minimal concessions to the road approval regulations (washer fluid tank only holds 1 liter), no vehicle should be manufactured today. In addition, a track-oriented suspension system with 40 mm lower ride height, stiffer springs, shock absorbers and adjustable stabilizers without power steering was installed. Accordingly, the interior, including the Recaro sports bucket seats, guarantees the racer's asceticism. As soon as you take a seat, the neck hair straightens up and all your senses concentrate on the essential feeling, pure racing feeling. What is striking is the center console with the short gear lever and the backlit instruments in transmitted light technology, in which symbols and lettering only appear when they are necessary to inform the driver. Nothing should disturb the concentration and focus on the essentials, on the actual purpose, on driving and the resulting enjoyment.

The trunk lid was made of aluminum and the chassis was welded. The wheels of the 964 Carrara RS are made of magnesium, the glass in the doors and the rear window are thinner. The Carrera RS is about 150 kg lighter than the Carrera 2 model.
This model also impresses with the special coloring in “Ferrari Yellow”, special paint ex works.
