ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The air-cooled 3.6-litre flat 6 engine, the engine architecture that gives the German coupé its mechanical charm, develops 250bhp. Renowned for its great reliability, this engine block can withstand high mileage if it has been used and maintained with respect, which was the case for our model. There are no engine leaks, and once under way, the flat-six emits no suspicious vibrations, delivers a thrust without a dip in power and idles smoothly. The 4-wheel drive system gives the vehicle unrivaled traction and stability, making the car both powerful and versatile. The gearbox is easy to get to grips with and not excessively hard to handle. The last service was carried out at Porsche Montélimar a few weeks ago, consisting of a simple annual service and overall mechanical check. The history shows a very rigorous follow-up, mainly within the Porsche network, with a service book and a large file of invoices. A rebuild of the top engine was carried out by Porsche Montélimar in August 2017, allowing it to present itself in excellent working order, ready to cover any distance.
EXTERIOR
There’s no need to describe the 911’s design, which has stood the test of time for over 60 years. The original Slate Grey color dresses the vehicle’s coat of paint with elegance and sobriety, and a full repaint was carried out by Porsche in 2015. It therefore boasts perfect, flawless condition and a perfect shine. No traces of rust are visible on the bodywork or underpinnings. Paint thickness measurements reveal low, uniform figures. The ‘RS’ wheels and rear-view mirrors give the car a decidedly sporty look.
INTERIOR
The cabin of this third iteration of the 911 has been enhanced in terms of comfort and safety equipment, with the introduction of airbags, air conditioning, an optional sunroof and electric seats. Our tester is clad entirely in black leather, and the dashboard is flawless thanks to the quality of its manufacture, while the instrumentation retains its usual layout of five dials with the rev counter in the middle. The seats offer good support and are perfectly well preserved despite discrete signs of wear, while the black carpets and rugs are on a par with the rest of the cabin, as are the plastics.
CONSUMABLES
The 2022 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres (205/50 ZR17 front and 255/40 ZR17 rear) are as new. The brakes have been recently serviced and are up to date, with the brake system bled in 2022 and the brake pads/discs up to date.
