Fastidious ownership has resulted in a comprehensive service history and extensive recent preventative maintenance on what is thought to be a uniquely specified car. The PTS ‘Silber Metallic’ paint presents beautifully – the car underwent a full respray in the original colour by a leading prestige car body shop in 2009 after it sustained damage to the driver’s side wing and strut tower. The repair was completed to a very high standard using the correct jig to ensure there had been no chassis deformation or alteration to geometry before they completed a glass and engine out respray. With 928 values being heinously low at the time, the decision was taken by the owner to declare the incident and as a result the car was categorised as a Category C. He then used the funds from the insurance payout to commission a full engine rebuild with marque specialists GT ONE. For total peace of mind, it has very recently undergone a full HPI inspection by Autolign and has subsequently passed their thorough Category Inspection test to confirm the repairs where carried out correctly, and is now showing as Category Inspected on the HPI history instead of Cat C.
The engine rebuild was undertaken by Porsche Specialists GT ONE and overseen by their resident Porsche 928-trained mechanic, covering only about 30,000 miles since. An output of around 320bhp has been demonstrated on subsequent dyno runs, owing not only to the twin-distributor equipped engine seen for the 1985/86 model year, but also thanks to the addition of a shark tuner chip which has allowed optimised performance of the engine on modern fuels.
Combined with the desirable G28.10 5-speed gearbox and LSD, this 928 delivers an engaging and visceral drive with impressive performance, even among modern traffic. The absence of a sunroof is another rare and desirable facet to this already rare car, which sheds weight from a key area and improves headroom by a not insignificant 50mm. Other factory options include sports shock absorbers (now GAZ Gold fully-adjustable shocks), windscreen with tinted sun-strip, cruise control, electrically adjustable seats, 8-speaker hi-fi system with Blaupunkt stereo (recently refurbished and upgraded with an invisible Bluetooth module by Chrome London) and amplifier, all of which remain in the car.

The current MOT is free from advisories and is valid until 2025. In addition to the above service history, the car was at one time owned by a prolific music video producer and commissioner. Under his ownership, it was very well cared for, and featured in several music video productions with artists such as Ed Sheeran, James Blunt & Cardi B. The appropriate cherished number plate B928 SHK is also included in the sale. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a particularly well sorted 928 in what is the rarest specification.
