1978 Porsche 928 Coupé in Mocha Brown for sale!

Anyone who has experienced the 1970s very consciously and can look back on it with a good feeling will particularly appreciate this unique time machine called Porsche 928. Everything about this underrated sports car breathes 70s. Including the color scheme! The 928 is wonderfully pure, but not too pretty to pass up – if you know what we mean. The base is beautiful, with sleek sheet metal, a rock-hard bottom and excellently maintained technology. In terms of paintwork, it is not a competition winner, but good enough to make you feel like you’re back in the 70s in one fell swoop … Who dares to enter?

The vehicle in detail

History

This German was first put on the road in Italy. If you keep an enthusiastic and close eye on our advertisements, you will undoubtedly have noticed that this is not the only classic Porsche with such a background. Coincidence does not exist: the 928 comes from the same enthusiast / collector as the other princely Porsche models. This means that he comes from a good nest! And still, because here the coupé gets all the care and attention it deserves. For example, we have discovered that the engine is neatly periodically serviced and that various items have even been replaced preventively. Including the hoses and belts. Truly a solid German!

Exterior

You would almost forget that Porsche built even more sports cars in the past, in addition to the iconic 911. The 928 is a little less uncompromising than the former, making it a wonderful mix of a sports coupe and a GT. The nose is relatively long and the roofline is less abrupt. From this it can already be concluded that the configuration is different from that of der Elfer: the engine is in the front, which creates more space in the back.
One of the most striking features of the Porsche 928 are the round folding headlamps that, as it were, lie recessed into the body instead of folding down. That way you always have a view of the units, even when they are in a ‘rest state’. The 3 separate lights underneath on either side, the huge doors and the many glassware behind it are other typical features of the 928. The 5-hole ‘telephone’ wheels and dark brown color complete the 70s feeling.

Interior

This feeling persists – or no, is reinforced as soon as the large door opens: brown leather with beige fabric center panels and a black instrument panel define the unique atmosphere on board this 2 + 2. The fabric parts contain ribs, the headrests are integrated in the front seats and in the back you will find real sports fairings. Moreover, the interior is original in every detail, neat and intact. It doesn’t get more ‘time correct’ than this!

Technology & performance

The attentive viewer has certainly noticed the gear lever as well. Indeed, this 4.5 liter V8-measuring Porsche sport-GT has an old-fashioned nice manual gearbox! As befits a real Porsche, the drive is done via the rear wheels. A total of 240 horses are sent to the rear axle. Accelerating from 0-100 km / h within 6.8 seconds is not surprising for a car from this era. And also the top speed of 230 km / h is far from making do. Not even in 2020. Does the real 70s boss want to stand up?

Kind regards,
Prins Classics
