4762903888 was completed on January 7, 1976 in Ivory over Yellow Leatherette optioned with U.S. Equipment, Stabilizer Bars (front and rear), Tinted Glass (all around), and Center Arm Rest Console. The Porsche was sold new on April 20, 1976 to Karen Massena of Gillette, Wyoming through Rushmore Volkswagen of Rapid City, South Dakota. A Motorola Sapphire XXII radio was installed by the delivery dealer with an accompanying Guarantee tag. Mrs. Massena was told it was the last 914 in that particular region of the U.S. The car and owner later made residency between Wyoming and Washington state and said to have always been garage kept, while wearing a protective bra across the nose during the early years of regular driving. Servicing records and invoices track the care given and travel, as well as registration documentation. Records date from 1976-Present. Delivery is confirmed by the original window sticker, bill of sale, and odometer statement. The 914 is also complete with all of its original books, including the VIN-matched Owner’s Manual / Maintenance Record book, North American Distributors and Dealers booklet, Passing, Braking and Tire Pamphlet, and Metric Conversion Table.
4762903888 remained under Massena’s care until 2016, when it was acquired by a Florida specialty dealer with an affinity for original early Porsches. They commission a no-expenses-spared restoration by experienced marque experts to a remarkably well-preserved car. The results seen here, reflect without a doubt, one of the finest restored late 914 2.0’s in existence. It was important that the vehicle retain as many of its original components where possible. Very few owners have taken this particular model to this level of fit and finish, however such an extraordinary example deserved only the best care.
Presence and drivability are excellent, with all lights, instruments, safety equipment and auxiliary systems in proper working order – along with a Spring 2020 inspection and scheduled service to assure continued reliability. Engine compression reads as follows: 112, 120, 118, 120 psi. The service was then followed up by a Porsche Classic Technical Inspection performed by Texas’ only Porsche Classic Partner with an official Technical Certificate to support the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity already on file. A period appearance is complemented by date-correct Wyoming rear license plate, NOS Mohn ski rack and K2 skis. Here is an exceptional collector grade 914 from very late production, long term care, and a meticulous freshening for the discerning Porsche enthusiast – ideal for concours display, driven enjoyment and Porsche Club events. Now available for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom.
