The vehicle in detail

In the early 1980s, conversions to the 930, giving it the front look of the Porsche 935 racing car, were very popular, especially in the USA. From 1981, Porsche therefore offered a flat-body conversion for the Turbo models. This conversion was not available as additional equipment from the factory, but was carried out later by hand in the Porsche Werks department using the “Sonderwunsch Programm”.
The conversion consisted of various elements that had to be ordered individually. The complete flat body conversion included the actual flat car front in 935 look with the pop-up headlights embedded in the fenders and the engine oil cooler placed in the middle of the front apron, the wheel arch ventilation in the front fenders, the side skirts and the air intake openings on the rear fenders.

Initially, in addition to the front of the car with the folding headlights, a version was offered in which the headlights were integrated in the front spoiler. Of this version, the repair department made only 58 examples! Of the conversions with pop-up headlights in the fenders, 204 vehicles were subsequently handcrafted. The conversion costs amounted to up to 27,500 DM depending on the extent of the conversion in 1985. If buyers combined the turbo flat body with a performance increase ex works, the purchase price of the 3.3-liter turbo could almost double.

Our car on offer is one of only 58 Flatnose examples that were initially created without the folding headlights. This is one of the rarest Porsche production models in existence. Finished in India red over beige leather the car has been kept as a driver with numerous owners in Europe. The car currently presents itself in mechanically sound and visually good driver condition. It is not a showroom collector piece, but it is mechanically sorted and documented well. The engine has been rebuild in 2007 in Germany. Porsche CoA and other documentation authenticities this car as one of those rare 58 examples build.

A rare opportunity by any standard. These cars do not come to market often!
