The turbo convertible we offer is the 467th of 600 US models built. It looks like something out of a picture book, this premier-class 911. Triple black, in perfect dream condition. Once you've driven this turbo convertible, it's hard to imagine that this car should really be over 30 years old. It is well known that this technology in particular continues to have a brilliant effect today and that the look of every 911 is generally timeless. So what exactly do we know about the 30-year history of this car?
For almost 20 years, the Carfax has provided rough insights into various “passed inspections” and “title issued or updated” – from Ohio to Florida to New York. The last odometer reading – in New York in the Carfax – is 71,979 miles. In September 2011 an accident on the car was registered in Staten Island, in December 2011 the story of this turbo convertible in the USA ends.
The 911 was imported from the Grenzlandring Motors company in Mönchengladbach, which specializes in air-cooled Porsche, and bought by the current owner (rear left and front right) in an accident condition. The vehicle was then rebuilt from scratch on his behalf. This approach ensured that conflicts of interest were avoided and allowed the turbo to be rebuilt without any cost brakes. The term “new” was not chosen for nothing in this context. The vehicle has the character of a new car. Let's talk about technology, for example: thoroughly inspected to the utmost , once new, revised. According to Porsche specifications. The look: repainted in the original L700 color, equipped with a new Sonnenland soft top, fitted with new tires, the dashboard re-leather, the speedometer changed from miles to kilometers – 122,860km. And and and…
In January 2016 after completion, the current owner took over the turbo and had it dry ice treated and sealed by our friends – the cleaners in Fellbach. This last, purely cosmetic work really makes the turbo shine like a new car even on the entire underbody and also serves as a reference for the “cleaners” at the Retro Classics 2016. Who knows the high-end requirements and philosophy of these two clean-up experts , knows what we mean. By installing the original steering wheel and radio, the car is ultimately perfect – and it looks exactly like that today.
Unfortunately, we have no consistently verifiable documentation and all individual receipts for the 911. Even if some people will miss the logbook including the checkbook, even if the car comes from the USA and even if you laboriously find other reasons to talk yourself out of this turbo convertible: The vehicle itself (which is ultimately at stake) can no longer be improved. It is on the level of a new year-old car that has never been allowed to see a puddle. Everything works better, we agree with you. Not the car itself.
