The earliest known history of this 930 dates back to invoices from 1988 to 2006 to Mr. Kernan, a resident of Imperial, Missouri. The invoices indicate minimal use, as the 930 was primarily used as a weekend driver. In 2006, with 51,872 miles, Reid Vann Luxury Import Service in St Louis, Missouri, serviced the 930, including replacing the left and right outer CV boots, left and right inner rear wheel bearings, and the fuel pump relay. By 2014, the Turbo Carrera was sold to Mr. Andrews; under his ownership, he had the Turbo rebuilt, replaced shifter couplers and bushings, and replaced the fuel pumps. The Turbo Carrera was then sold to the current owner in 2015 and was put in storage for a few years.
On March 15, 2019, at 64,837 miles, Moore Boost Motorsports in Colorado Springs, Colorado, did a comprehensive engine rebuild. This included the replacement of the pistons, which were fitted with high-performance rings. The cylinder heads were reconditioned with new valves, valve guides, and springs. The oil pump was reconditioned and resealed. The ignition system, including a new distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs, and plug wires, was gone through.
The oil cooling system was also updated with new oil lines and seals. Compression and leak-down tests were conducted after the assembly to ensure optimal performance. During the same time, the transmission was rebuilt, all the worn components were replaced, and a new clutch assembly was installed. The braking system was also rebuilt, including a new master cylinder, brake calipers, brake pads, rotors, and brake booster.
Later, in 2019, Apex Auto Body in Lakewood, Colorado, did a comprehensive, bare metal windows-out cosmetic restoration in its original color combination and replaced all the seals and trim. The door jambs were not touched and are still all original paint with the original VIN sticker. On June 12, 2024, Finish Line Automotive Interiors installed a complete new interior, including hair cell leather on the front and rear seats, dash, and door panels. The headliner was replaced, and a Haargarn front trunk carpet was installed.
On January 10, 2025, at 67,271 miles, Auto Strasse Corp in Costa Mesa, California, replaced the auxiliary air regulator, ventilation valve, and intercooler, repaired ground to the CD box, and adjusted the fuel mixture. On February 4, 2025, Johnson’s Alignment in Torrance, California, installed all new Bilstein shocks, replaced the spring plate bushings, installed new front bushings, set the ride height, and did a four-corner balance and alignment.
Mechanically, it is powered by the matching 3.3-liter flat-six turbocharged engine, producing 265 hp at 5,500 rpm with 291 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm. The matching 4-speed manual transmission with a four-wheel disc braking system sends power to the rear wheels.
Complete with two keys, owner’s manual, warranty & service booklet, and Blaupunkt radio manual. An excellent opportunity to acquire a numbers-matched 3.3-liter Turbo Carrera presented in its original color combination.
