This vehicle is a 930 Turbo Coupé from the 1988 model year, which was first registered in March 1988. The engine and gearbox numbers correspond to the original delivery documentation, as do the exterior and interior colors (dark blue K5, dark blue). As one of 38 C99 (RdW) vehicles delivered in 1988, it largely corresponds to the European factory equipment, especially the engine (type M930.66, with 221kW/300PS power and 432 Nm torque). The vehicle has an incredibly charming, clean basic equipment – the only special equipment was:
M197 – Stronger battery 88AH
M567 – Windshield with gradient colored upper section
Even the sunroof, which has an almost 100% pick rate for this model, was not configured!
The standard equipment is comprehensive, however, and so you never get the feeling that you are missing something: central locking, electric windows, electrically adjustable mirrors on both sides, elegant velour carpet, fully electrically adjustable comfort seats, fog lights at the front and rear, and air conditioning are all installed in this vehicle.
1988 the vehicle was sold to the first owner by the importer Mitsuwa Motors. Around the year 2000 the latter sold the vehicle to the second owner, who looked after and maintained the vehicle with great effort and full documentation. As far as we could translate, extensive overhaul work on the turbocharger and engine internals (K27 turbocharger, pistons, cylinders, new bearing shells, head machining) took place during his time between 2012 and 2014. Also during the time in Japan the plain paint was given a layer of clear varnish. Throughout the entire service life, receipts for the regular shaken report were collected, which make the mileage traceable.
2018, on the vehicle's 30th birthday we were able to take delivery of this vehicle in Bremerhaven. It is registered to us as the third owner and is ready to drive.
The following maintenance work was carried out in Germany during this time:
- June 2018: 52,665km, first use, new battery, TÜV §21 (full inspection) & §23 (H-license plate) (without defects). (Sports and touring cars Brüning, Windach)
- July 2018: 55,030 km, 33-point check, service fluids, new service booklet, wiper and washer system repaired (PZ Olympiapark, Munich)
- December 2020: 57,617km, major maintenance, ignition distributor and ignition cable replaced, new shock absorbers (Bilstein Sportlich Strasse), new brake pads, new AU/HU (without defects) (Eleven Munich, Munich)
- April 2023: 60,015km, annual maintenance, air conditioning compressor, dryer, condenser replaced & air conditioning service, steering column bearing replaced, new tires (Yokohama A008P N0), AU/HU (no defects) (Eleven Munich, Munich)
The vehicle has the following defects:
- small stone chips due to use, especially on the bumper and trunk lid,
- A scratch on the left rear side panel,
- Original speakers are defective and need to be replaced.
Otherwise, the vehicle is very well tuned, has excellent cold start and idling behavior cold/warm (not the case with K-Jetronic engines) and outstanding driving performance, which still impresses today.
The clean and simple equipment of the vehicle is impressive, which stands out alongside the fantastic optical and technical condition. And the driving experience reflects the condition, as we have experienced on over 10,000 kilometers driven in a species-appropriate manner since the import!
