Delivered initially by Bob Smith Porsche | Audi on December 11, 1972, to the first owner, Bonnie Molina of Los Angeles, California. According to the original Maintenance Record booklet, it was serviced regularly at Bob Smith Porsche. After six years of ownership, Mrs. Molina sold the 911T to Mrs. Swift in 1978. The 911 traded hands two more times in Southern California to Pauline Powers in the early 1980s and then again to Mrs. Anastas in 1987.
Under Mrs. Anastas’s ownership, the Targa was serviced regularly by various independent Porsche shops in San Diego, California. In 1999, she sold the 911T to her good friend’s father, Bill Richardson of Richardson Restorations and Machine Werks in Phoenix, Arizona.
Bill Richardson was a restoration mechanic specializing in building Mercedes 300SL Gullwings and Porsche 356 4-cam engines. After inspecting the body of this Targa, he decided to do a complete cosmetic restoration, including a windows-out repaint and installing a new interior. The body was disassembled and stripped to steel, metal finished, and repainted in the original factory color Gulf Blue by Transcendental Finishes in Prescot, Arizona. In 2012, the engine was rebuilt, but Richardson had to delay the project due to health reasons. In 2021, the 911T was sold to the past owner, who contracted with Richardson to complete the restoration. Finishing the build included installing a new main shaft, installing new transmission gears and a new Sachs clutch kit, rebuilding the braking system, replacing the decklid struts, and installing new engine mounts and transmission mounts.
Excellent mechanical condition, powered by the matching 2.4-liter flat-six engine with a Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) system producing 130 horsepower. The manual 5-speed transmission (Type 915) shifts perfectly throughout all the gears with a four-wheel disc braking system. The Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) system has recently undergone a comprehensive rebuild, including a rebuilt MFI pump, new fuel lines, fuel injectors, throttle bodies, intake stacks, and linkages. The MFI system was adjusted, and the idle stop was reset on December 9, 2024, by Vision Motorsports. Complete with the original window sticker, owner’s manual, maintenance and service booklet, spare wheel, and an extensive service history spanning over 37 years. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire a distinguished example presented in its original color combination, accompanied by original documentation, and finished to a very high standard.
