The second generation of Porsche 911 – the G Series – was produced from model year 1974 all the way to 1989 and is thus the version of 911, which stayed longest in production. Compared to the F Series, a vast number of improvements were implemented, among others the now famous impact bumpers, which were the answer to US regulation requirering being able to absorb a crash at 8km/h. The Porsche solution probably was one of the most successful designs to intergrate the bumpers and remained in production until the 964 generation was introduced in 1989. During the first years of production all cars were equipped with the 2,687 cc engine in 3 versions. The base variant producing 150 bhp, the S having 175 bhp and the Carrera with the famous Carrera RS engine with an output of 210 bhp.
The US market was always very important for Porsche and this example was imported from here. It is a very correct, original and numbers matching car, which quite rare in fact was factory fitted with the Recaro sports seats in leather. The car has been well maintained and serviced on a regular basis with substantial documentation from renowned Danish Porsche specialists. Driving the car it becomes quite evident, that this is indeed a very well sorted car. The characteristic air cooled boxer engine pulls eagerly and the 915 transmission shifts well – also at downshifting. We hope this car will find a new owner who will drive it as intended and enjoy the lightness of this early car. Considering how all Porsches eventually became heavier and wider, this early slim G model with its modest sized tires is a very nice representative of the driving experience, which grew into the 911 mythos.
For a matching numbers car, with factory Recaro sports seats, Fuchs wheels and in very well sorted out condition, we believe the car is priced quite competitively.
