The vehicle in detail

If the Porsche 911 is defined by anything, it’s the continuous evolution it has undergone over the decades. Porsche worked to refine the original design for nearly 35 years, with the first major update arriving in 1969. Extending the wheelbase by 2.4 inches smoothed the sprightly handling of the early models, earning praise from the motoring press. That same year marked the final evolution of the high-compression, rev-happy 2.0-liter engines. In Type 901/10 specification—such as in this matching-numbers 911 S Coupe—it boasts Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) and delivers 170 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. Slightly flared fenders to accommodate wider six-inch wheels completed the key upgrades for this standout 911 model year.

According to a digital copy of its factory Kardex, this 1969 911 S Coupe, Porsche’s most sporting and top-of-the-line model, was completed on 5 February 1969, finished in Light Ivory over an optional partial Black leather interior. Destined for the United States, it features highly desirable sport seats with black corduroy inserts. Factory-fitted options included tinted glass all around, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, and a manual antenna on the left side. Furthermore, its Kardex confirms that the same 901/10 engine and transmission remain with this example as when sold new through Porsche Cars Southwest distributor in San Antonio, Texas.

A history file of receipts and documents is provided with the car, with the earliest paperwork dating back to 2008. Most important are the restoration invoices dating from 2009-2010 after being purchased by Jim Hascall of St. Petersburg, Florida. During this period the car was in the hands of German Tech Inc. of Largo, Florida who performed restoration work to both the mechanicals and body. A full rebuild of the matching numbers engine and five-speed transmission was performed along with work to the braking system and suspension. During restoration, the cosmetics were tended to as well with a complete repaint in its original shade of Light Ivory with the addition period-correct “rally” style Cibié hood-mounted driving lights. A detailed invoice dated 15 January 2010 totaling $76,323 is available for review for the full restoration of the car, itemizing every part and component along with labor.

Post-restoration, this 911 S Coupe entered the substantial Porsche collection of Jim Hascall, a long-term PCA member and former club President. Additional invoices from German Tech and Stoddard from 2010 to 2015 are contained within the history file. Acquired by the current owner in March of 2018, it has seen service at Hennessey Porsche, a Porsche Classic Partner. In the consignor’s ownership, it has had extensive service and maintenance work completed, with invoices since 2018 totaling $22,773. Most recently, it has received a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate (CTC) from Hennessey Porsche, confirming its numbers matching status, and is offered with its owner’s manual, history file, a toolkit, and jack.
