1969 Porsche 911 S Targa in Golden Green for sale!

When we utter the word sports car, we immediately think of the icon the Porsche 911. The model that was created in America by a strict rule on cabriolets and contributed to Porsche’s success story. In the 60s it became impossible to export the cabriolet variants to one of their largest export markets, America, and this because of the safety. Porsche of course did not sit by and came shortly thereafter with the innovative and safer model: The Targa. By means of a steel rollbar (the well-known Targa bar) and a removable roof, the safety of a coupe and the driving pleasure of a cabriolet could be perfectly combined. It became a huge success, and the Targa is still one of the most sought after 911 models on the market today.

In 1967 Porsche came up with a new more powerful version of their 2.0-liter variant and thus the ‘S’ version was born which delivered a whopping 160 HP. If this wasn’t enough, they came up with the famous Gasoline Injection systems in 1969 which provided the 2.0S versions with 170HP. Only 614 of the 2.0S Targa versions left the factory, making this one of the most sought-after collectibles by true purists to this day.

The vehicle in detail

Our Porsche 911 2.0S Targa is a tremendously rare specimen with its entire matching numbers engine and gearbox that has remained completely inseparable since production in 1969 but also with its incredibly rare and original ‘Golden green’ color that has only been repainted once on this tremendously sleek body. The interior spaces, engine compartment, trunk,… are still completely original throughout the years and show a beautiful patina.

The interior of the car is in beautiful condition and invites you to take a seat and take an extensive test drive in this beautiful 911. If the appearance of the interior and the patina of the bodywork were not enough to convince you, you undoubtedly will be when starting the 170 HP 2.0liter gasoline-injected engine that sounds like music to your ears from the moment you turn the key and is only encouraged when revving the engine. The car smoothly harnesses all its power in every gear and at all speeds, shifting gears really becomes child’s play with this extremely smooth 5-speed manual transmission.

The proud first owner John W. Foster took delivery of his golden green 911 on July 29, 1969, in sunny Santa Clara, California. The car has seen nothing but sunshine ever since, which is reflected in the rock-hard underside and body of the car. The original ‘maintenance record’ booklet is still present with the car and shows that the car has always received proper maintenance. Furthermore, the original Porsche Drivers Manual and Porsche Service book are present with the car.

Whether it’s a quiet drive on Sunday or a sporty rally weekend in the mountains, this rare 911S Targa is not afraid of any adventure and is ready for many carefree miles.

This most sought after but especially very rare 911S that is  fully matching numbers and colors is now available at Rock ‘n Roll Classics.

Come and discover this beautiful example in our showroom before it’s too late!
