Porsche 911 2.0 S 1968 – Short chassis – Matching – Restored – 12 months warranty

History : According to the owner’s sources, fewer than 120 examples of the 1968 911 2.0S coupé in short chassis were fitted with the Sportomatic gearbox, making it a rarity. The car is matching numbers, certified by Porsche. This 911 2.0 S was delivered by Porsche in May 1968. However, in view of the social unrest in France, its release by Sonauto Levallois was postponed until October 1968. It was therefore a car delivered in France, hence the special features of the bar added to the bumpers, typical of 911s delivered by Sonauto. Its first owner lived in Levallois. He kept it until 1993. The second owned it for a further 4 years. The third lived in Normandy, and used it for a few years before giving it up in the early 2000s.

The vehicle in detail

The fourth and current owner bought her in 2006. He brought it back by road, but felt it was tired. So he undertook a complete restoration by a well-known specialist, Aurélien’s garage, which hosts the wheeler dealer show. The work was of the highest quality, and every effort was made to leave the car in its original configuration. It came out of restoration in 2014 and since then, it has covered 1,000 km a year.
In terms of mileage, it would appear that the odometer has only gone round once, giving it a total of 135,800 km. Finally, this 2.0 S is “matching numbers”.

Characteristics :
Flat 6 engine – 1991 cm3 – 160 bhp – 11 CV
4-speed semi-automatic “sportomatic” gearbox
Exterior: Orange Sanguine (Tangerine) – Interior: black
First MEC: 28/10/1968
Mileage : 35 800 km
Chassis number: 11800999

Condition:
General: This example is in superb overall condition.

Exterior: The bodywork has been completely restored, from the bare body upwards, with all fittings and gaskets removed and replaced where necessary. Most of the chrome has been retained. The finish is of excellent quality. The seller points out that there is a micro-impact on the passenger-side windscreen. The Fuchs rims look perfect.

Interior: The interior is in very good condition, in black imitation leather. Everything is in order. Seats, carpets and upholstery have been retained to preserve the car’s authenticity, especially as they were still in good condition at the time of restoration. The interior and front compartment carpets are well preserved. The original radio is still present and working, as are all dials, gauges, etc.

Mechanical: The flat 6 works very well. The engine was rebuilt during the restoration. It seems that it had never been opened before, as it was still at its original dimensions when they opened it. The gearbox had already been rebuilt by the previous owner. The car’s overall operation is very pleasant and reassuring. For the sale, the seller plans to have the car overhauled with the carburetors cleaned.

Underbody : The car’s underpinnings are very sound. In a condition close to that of its original restoration.
