In 2019 we commenced with the completed bare metal nut and bolt restoration of the car. As with all of our restorations this began with the stripped shell being media blasted and then place on one of our Celette jig beds with factory brackets. The metal work restoration was then completed ensuring that all 1968 period pressings and details remained on the car.
After this the shell was meticulously prepared for paint ensuring the body had the perfect shape and panel gaps before paint application. Finally the body was finished in the period factory colour of Slate Grey.
Whilst the body was being restored we set out to restore all of the components for the car. As a nod to the cars past we thought the best way to finish the car was as a period correct “Sports Purpose” 911S.
The suspension uses much of the knowledge gained from our SWB race cars. Such as Koni dampers, custom anti roll bars front and rear, larger torsion bars and correct 911S discs and calipers.
The gearbox is a fully rebuilt type 911 gearbox with dogleg first gear and custom ratio’s installed
As in period the car is fitted with a 2.7 engine on built on a 2R case with Mahle high compression pistons, Weber carbs, bespoke exhaust system and a period correct 68S oil system with correct lines, pipes and cooler.
The interior of the car is finished with a half cage, Repa Harnesses, ST seats with custom tartan inserts and rear seat pad backs to match, charcoal square weave carpet and early style green gauges.
All of this has created in our eyes the ultimate SWB car that is a total joy to drive and delivers the complete Porsche 911 experience.
