1976 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR Jägermeister Replica

The base vehicle for this contemporary rebuild was a 3.0 Carrera from 1976. It was converted into an RSR with great attention to detail during the restoration.

There is no model in motor sport that has been as successful for as long as the racing versions of the Porsche 911 Carrera. These sports cars with a wide variety of engines have achieved thousands of victories. For the 1974 racing season, Porsche had increased the performance of the Carrera's six-cylinder boxer engines again by increasing the displacement (from 2.7 to 3 liters). Top speed was 290 km/h. 42 examples of the Porsche Carrera RSR were built in the Porsche factory in 1974.

The vehicle in detail

One of them was bought by Jägermeister in March 1974 for 79,979.98 DM. The driver of this car was Eckhard Schimpf; only in long-distance races, where driver changes were required, did other drivers sit behind the wheel. Eckhard Schimpf competed in 84 races with this car in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978. He took part in numerous hill climb races and on almost all German circuits. He also took part in many races in the European Hill Climb Championship in Italy, Spain, France, Austria and Switzerland.

In 1976, Schimpf and Edgar Dören won the category and came seventh overall in the 1000-kilometer race on the Nürburgring.

The Porsche Carrera RSR was sold to Munich in 1979, went to Hong Kong in 1980 and ended up in California in 1983. From there, this special Porsche Carrera RSR was bought back in 2015.

Another Porsche Carrera RSR in Jägermeister colors was used by the Kremer team in Cologne in the German Racing Championship in 1975. The driver was Helmut Kelleners. Together with Hans Heyer, he won the GT victory in the Kremer RSR at the 1000-kilometer race on the Nürburgring in 1975 (8th place overall). Willi Bartels also drove a Jägermeister Carrera RSR from 1974 to 1977. In 1976 he became European Hill Climb Champion with it.
