History
The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is an important model in the rich history of the 911 series.
Introduced for the 1976 vintage and produced only for two years, it marks a crucial transition period for the 911, since it is part of the second generation of the 911 known as the G-Series.
The Carrera 3.0 is therefore not the most widespread of its kind: 3651 units would have left the Zuffenhausen factory of which only 1105 Targa; in comparison, the SC and Carrera 3.2 are almost like current models and are undeniably easier to find.
We are therefore in the presence of a model both extremely rare and desirable, with a very favorable weight/ power ratio (the car weighs only 1120 kilos) and a driving pleasure reinforced by the availability of the flat-six.
The model presented for sale is one of 479 units produced during the vintage 76 in its Targa variant.
It was bought new by its first owner at Agence Générale H. SCHILLER, Porsche agency in Geneva in 1975 (Switzerland). The vehicle was delivered on November 6, 1975 with 80 km on the meter.
He then had 2 new owners still from the canton of Geneva, the last one from 1988 to 2009. Then bought by the 4th owner from the canton of Vaud who kept the vehicle between 2009 and 2015.
The 5th and last owner bought the vehicle from a professional automobile in the state without warranty. He performed a complete mechanical and body upgrade. via a professional known in the Porsche world.
Outside, the vehicle is in excellent condition. The original paint in its sublime and rare shade Platinum metallic (code W1) is in superb condition and has retained all its brilliance because of its restoration in 2015 by its last owner. A photo file is also available to trace this aesthetic refurbishment. The vehicle was at that time with the 4 original Fuchs wheels painted body color and fin. The owner took the opportunity to put the vehicle back in its factory configuration with Fuchs rims painted black and rear hood without aileron.
The paint has nevertheless some rare defects in 9 years of use of the projections of gravel at the front panel and dents without paint loss at the rear cover and left front wing. The plastics, exterior and optical joints are in good condition except the joints of the 2 doors that will have to be replaced for sale. The black Targa roof is in very good condition and functional, no damage is to be deplored. The car is fully original outside.
Detailing with full polishing and polishing of the body will be done by a professional before delivery. The Carrera 3.0 logo on the rear hood can be returned to its original location as desired by the new owner.
The interior is beautifully preserved. The front seats made of leatherette and fabric and the rear seats made of leatherette have no pronounced tears, holes or traces of wear. They were the subject of a restoration during 1988, confirmed by an expert report available. Steering wheel, instrument panel are in good condition. Door panels have some known defects (cracks and lower part detachment). The instrumentation works normally. Note the front cover cylinders will be replaced for delivery. The interior is also entirely original.
The mechanics work perfectly. The fully original engine starts well both hot and cold, has a stable idle and has all its power. The car brakes normally, the gears pass without accoups. At times the throttle cable freezes at 2000 rpm and will therefore be replaced for delivery to its new owner.
The vehicle has its 4 original Fuchs rims in perfect condition, fitted with 15-inch summer tires with an excellent profile (6mm front and rear) but too old (year 2011). They will therefore be replaced for delivery (tire brand of the new purchaser’s choice). The car brakes normally, the clutch does not spin. A large service will be performed for the sale with replacement of all fluids including brake fluid.
