Perhaps the ultimate status symbol during the 1980s, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet made its debut at the start of the 1983 model year. The marque’s first convertible since the 356, it was an instant hit, with 4,214 finding buyers in the first year despite a significant price hike over the coupé and Targa. The 911 formula was further enhanced the following year, when the 3-litre SC was retired in favour of the 3.2-litre Carrera. The definitive 1980s Porsche had arrived.
Destined for the United States, the example offered left the Stuttgart factory on 2 June 1986. Finished in Grand Prix White with a full-leather cockpit, the 911 was equipped with a limited-slip differential, short-shift gearchange, electric seats, central locking, sports seats, and a Blaupunkt Monterey stereo. The most visible option, however, was the all-important ‘Turbo-look’ wide-body with its signature whale-tail spoiler.
Prior to being imported from Colorado in 2018, the 911 was subject to a comprehensive restoration to factory specification. Having covered little distance since its complete overhaul, this beautifully presented Porsche 911 remains in outstanding condition and would make a fine addition to any collection.
