– Only 14,250 original kilometers and exceptional state of preservation
– PCCM infotainment system installed and original Blaupunkt car radio
A variant of the 911 Carrera 3.2L whose career began in 1983, the Speedster version was presented at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The mechanical basis of this sporty variation of the Porsche 911 cabriolet, which the brand calls the “Speedster”, is identical to that of the coupé and cabriolet. It features a 3.2-liter, naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder engine developing 231 hp, mated to a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox. The bodywork, on the other hand, is much more exclusive. In homage to the history of the 356, this Speedster features a small, steeply raked windshield, a streamlined, articulated soft-top cover and a streamlined double headrest, all of which give it a very compact silhouette, particularly when the car is hooded. Two body styles were available: narrow body and wide body.
The car’s resolutely sporty lines appealed to customers at the time, most of whom opted for the wide-body version, with its famous “Turbo Look” package, further exacerbating the car’s streamlined appearance.
More streamlined, this bodywork saves almost 70 kg compared to the contemporary Carrera cabriolet, thus enhancing its dynamism.
Only 2,274 examples (all body styles combined) of this radical version of the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2L Speedster were produced, a true collector’s item, as exclusive as its design for its limited distribution.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2L Speedster in our vacation is an original European car, in its Turbo Look (wide-body) version, probably the most emblematic of this 1980s zeitgeist series with its wide fenders.
It boasts a rare “triple black” configuration, with “Black Schwarz” paintwork, black leather interior and matching soft top.
It also boasts a host of optional extras, including air conditioning, heated electric seats, 40% differential lock, more powerful battery, short shifter, yellow fog lamps, high-intensity windscreen washers…
This 911 Speedster is in a rather exceptional state of preservation, both in terms of its bodywork, which has simply received a very light coat of paint in the past for a perfect presentation, and its interior, which is close to new. This can be explained by the car’s low mileage of 14,250 kilometers and the meticulous care it has received since its delivery in Spain in May 1989.
Launched on June 30, the Speedster was sold new by Porsche dealer Bel-Air Motors in Malaga to its first owner. This same garage, having maintained the car from the outset, sold it to another owner in November 2001, when it had just over 7,600 kms on the clock. The car was then serviced by the Pamplona dealer, while belonging to a company based in Marbella. The current owner acquired the car at the end of 2021, when it was in Luxembourg and had just been serviced by the André Losch Porsche garage in Letzebuerg, 13430 kms away. Since then, the 911 has covered just under 1,000 kms and is running perfectly, as we were able to verify during our dynamic test drive.
A perfectly integrated, latest-generation Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) infotainment system has been installed for ease of use in today’s traffic. The original Blaupunkt radio has of course been retained and will be handed over to the future owner.
This 911 Carrera 3.2L Speedster is one of only 2104 produced in this wide version. Rare, in an exceptional configuration (colors and equipment), with low mileage and in a remarkable state of preservation, it brings together all the qualities
required by collectors, who are increasingly turning to limited and exclusive series, especially porschists, for the ultimate in luxury.
