Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

The 3.2 Carrera was launched in October 1983 and although similar in appearance to the outgoing SC, it received numerous technical improvements to improve driveability, refinement, and performance.

Most notable was the new 3164cc engine that featured a digital motronic 2 electronic (DME) management system and a new Bosch LE Jetronic fuel injection to raise power from 204BHP to 231BHP. This not only gave a 10% improvement in fuel economy, but the top speed increased from 146mph to 152mph too.

Electric seats replaced the manual items in the SC, the heating system was improved, and the interior featured more luxurious materials.

In October 1986, a significant change was made with the introduction of the G50 gearbox which further improved refinement and ease of driving. It is these models that are the more desirable cars today.

We are pleased to offer this quite remarkable 3.2 Carrera Sport Coupe for sale, finished in the classic combination of Guards Red with black half leather/ pinstripe cloth interior, supplied by AFN (Reading) 2nd April 1988, it has covered just 41,000 miles and been family owned from new. As well as the full sport pack being specified, some desirable factory options were ordered too, as this car also has electric sports seats, air conditioning and cruise control. It is also still fitted with its original Blaupunkt Toronto SQR 46 radio cassette.

As well as a documented history, there is a letter on file from the family confirming the full ownership from their late father purchasing the car new via a personal friend at AFN, through to the present day. Still in totally original condition, we will be preparing the car fully in our workshop prior to sale.

Late 3.2 Carreras such as this, particularly when fitted with the G50 gearbox still provide classic 80s styling but are easier to drive than earlier models which are strong attributes for buyers venturing into classic air cooled 911 ownership for the first time. In the case of this example, add the remarkable original condition, the desirable specification, including those fabulous half leather sports seats which genuinely enhance the driving experience, the same family ownership with just 41,000 miles and all its original equipment from new, and we think it’s fair to say this is an upper tier example too.
